Saturday, September 6

Main Meet-Greet

6 PM Kells Irish Bar Cigar Room - reserved private party until 9PM

112 SW 2nd Avenue between Ash and Pine.

Full bar and lots of local brews on tap plus food, other surprises

After 9, we can elect to stay in the room, head upstairs to listen to an Irish group (free cover w/our room reservation) or go bar hopping. Downtown Portland has short blocks and there are several bars with and without live music in the area near Kell's. There is a rock/punk/metal/? festival all over the city including venues 2 blocks from Kells, http://www.musicfestnw.com/. There are also some excellent jazz clubs downtown as well. The next post will include hotel suggestions. The owner of Kells suggested Embassy Suites and also said that The Benson often gives great deals at the last minute on weekends.

Anybody up for meeting for a late lunch/early dinner somewhere in the Pearl? A lot of the fancier places don't open until 5, but there is a Vietnamese and a Thai restaurant, they are probably open all day Saturday. I'm thinking I would like to have a good meal before I get to Kells ;-)

Not sure we can make it: Ericka's fam is having a party for her Dad's bday. But we'll confirm times and see if we can't get some food with folks so as to absorb the alcohol.

WRT Thai food, if your heart's not set on the Pearl, there's Tara Thai in NW, and you can get the streetcar almost to their doorstep...

I'd love to do both the coast and the Falls/Columbia River.

Or we could go to Mt. Hood, get lost, get rescued and get on tv.

(Google/blogger id sucks)

Buckeye: It's OK, I'm a volunteer with Portland Mountain Rescue, and I'll gladly roll out to help a fellow Atriot! :-)

If folks are arriving around the same time Friday, I'd be glad to pick them up at PDX. I can take 4 passengers and plenty of luggage. I've got a job downtown from 11 am until not-sure-when, but it should be over by 3 or so. Feel free to email: msbellowsREMOVE-ATgmailDOTcom.
